We can highly recommend the Pride Go-Go Elite 3 Wheel
and 4 Wheel for people who weigh less than 200 pounds and who are under
5.9". For those who between 200 and 250 pounds and who are under 5.9"
we can highly recommend the Go-Go Elite Plus.
The Go-Go's are good for both indoor and outdoor
use.
For those who are over 5.9" and are primarily going
to use the scooter outdoors, we can highly recommend the Pride Celebrity
3 and 4 wheel scooters.
The question you may have is what is better a 3-wheeler
or 4-wheeler. Most people buy the 3-wheeler because they are a little
more easy to maneuver. Many people prefer the 4-wheeler because they
are more stable.
We've conducted our own tests on the stability of the
3 wheeler versus the 4 wheeler AND YOU CAN ALWAYS TIP OVER ON THE 3 WHEELER
IF YOU TRY; on the 4-Wheeler it is very hard to tip over, even if you try.
If your mental and physical capabilities are less than they should be, we
would recommend the 4-wheeler; and if they are even less than that, we would
recommend to choose the Electric Wheelchair or Powerchair.
Then the important questions comes:
Are you planning to take-apart your scooter; or are
you going to be able to ride almost all the time directly from your home.
(some people need a
threshold ramp to get in and out of the lip on their doorway - Other
people need a
Porch Elevator or a
Car-Lift).
If you are planning to transport your scooter, a
Lightweight
Scooter becomes very important.
Some of the features that you may review are:
Take-Apart Features: Almost all
scooters built today have the take-apart feature. Without any tools
or wiring you should be able to take apart a scooter. The Pride GoGo
is especially easy to take apart; probably easier than any other scooter
in the world.
The Length and Width Specifications of a Scooter sometimes
become very important if you have to fit the unit in a truck, or in an elevator,
or are planning to use in a crowded area, etc.
Some people ask for foldable scooters and the best
manufacturer in this category is EVRider. But, the most important question
is really how heavy is the heaviest part. Foldable scooters may be
a little easier to "take apart and put together"; but if any lifting is involved,
the foldable scooter may be twice as heavy as the take-apart models.
Most Scooters today come with a throttle control, Swivel
Seat, Tires, Direct Drive Motor, 2-Batteries, light package, horn, keys witch,
battery-indicator, built-in electronic brakes, variable speed control, either
built-in charger or portable charger, adjustable tiller arm, brake release
knob, front basket, etc.
Batteries: There are really two
types of battery packages with Scooters today. The smaller Go-Go type
that can go about 8 to 12 miles per charge; and the standard, regular size
batteries that can go 20 to 25 miles per charge. But, when most people
think about it; 8 to 12 miles charge per day is usually adequate.
Batteries moreover last about 2 to 3 years. They
come with a manufacturer's 6 month warranty. When charging the batteries,
the battery charger will automatically turn off when the batteries are fully
charged. We usually recommend charging your scooter every time you
use the scooter more than two miles - again, you cannot hurt the batteries
by over charging them.
Made in the USA: Unfortunately almost
all the manufacturer's today are made in China or Asia. If you want
